Director of Education & Youth Advocacy

 Karrene “Kay” Turner serves as the Director of Education & Awareness for Kurrency Kidz Inc., bringing more than 20 years of experience in social work, education, and community service across nonprofit and county systems. A passionate advocate for people, Kay is deeply committed to supporting youth, families, and communities through education, empowerment, and access to resources.

Kay’s professional background includes extensive work as a social worker and supervisor, where she has led and supported individuals in developing independence, effective decision-making skills, and self-advocacy. Her work is grounded in helping individuals become productive, informed, and resilient members of society—values that strongly align with Kurrency Kidz’s mission to empower youth with life-ready skills.

A twice graduate and lifelong learner, Kay holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a Master’s degree in Counseling from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she was born and raised. She also earned a second Master’s degree in Social Work from California State University, San Bernardino. She is credentialed and actively building her professional brand as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA).

In addition to her nonprofit leadership role, Kay is an educator and school counselor, where she supports students’ academic, social-emotional, and personal development. At Kurrency Kidz Inc., she provides guidance on curriculum alignment, youth development, family engagement, and community awareness initiatives—ensuring programs are educationally sound, trauma-informed, and responsive to student needs.

Outside of her professional work, Kay values family time, travel, and shared experiences that foster connection and joy—reflecting the holistic approach she brings to both education and community service.
