Arnell Bland, BA Director of Budgeting & Finance | Kurrency

Arnell Bland serves as the Director of Budgeting & Finance for Kurrency Kidz Inc., bringing extensive experience in public-sector accounting, financial reporting, grants management, and regulatory compliance. His background in federal and education-based financial systems strengthens the organization’s fiscal controls, budget integrity, and long-term sustainability.

Arnell is currently an Accountant with the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis, where he supports national economic data accuracy through detailed financial review, compliance documentation, data validation, and collaboration with internal and external data partners. His work requires strict adherence to federal standards, accounting methodologies, and quality assurance processes—expertise that directly supports nonprofit financial governance and accountability. 

Previously, Arnell served as an Accountant with the Office of the Chief Financial Officer for District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), where he managed fixed asset accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and federal grant drawdowns through the U.S. Department of Education’s G5 system. His responsibilities included reconciling school activity funds, preparing reimbursable grant documentation, allocating expenditures accurately, and ensuring compliance with federal and district funding requirements. This experience provides critical insight into K–12 education finance and grant compliance—core to Kurrency Kidz’s mission. 

Earlier in his career, Arnell supported financial statement preparation and compliance work for federal agencies, including projects aligned with GAAP and OMB A-136, further strengthening his expertise in financial reporting, audit readiness, and internal controls. He has also worked directly within a public charter school environment, supporting grant reimbursements, entitlement funding, and expenditure tracking—giving him firsthand knowledge of school-based financial operations and education funding systems. 

At Kurrency Kidz Inc., Arnell provides leadership over budgeting processes, financial planning, grant budget alignment, and internal controls. His expertise ensures the organization maintains transparent financial practices, meets reporting requirements, and responsibly manages funds in alignment with nonprofit best practices and funder expectations.
